Domaine Rombeau

(Languedoc-Roussillon)

The Domaine de Rombeau, one of the most traditional wineries in Roussillon, dates back to 1727 when the de la Fabrègue family came to Rivesaltes from Lyon. By 1850 the family had amassed vineyards and were one of the first in the region to bottle wine. The barrels from this time can still be found on the winery today. The family survived the phylloxera and the two world wars, repeatedly deepened the traditions of the region and at the same time remained open to the possibilities of the future. As Philippe Raspaud, the sixth generation winemaker, says: "The tradition is alive."

Today the Domaine de Rombeau cultivates 90 hectares using sustainable, organic and biodynamic methods and produces a range of wines, including Muscat de Rivesaltes, Rivesaltes, Côtes du Roussillon and Côtes du Roussillon-Villages. They are particularly famous and celebrated for their cellars with old Rivesaltes that go back to the early 1950s.
